will the stranger say yes or no now that i have asked it to hire me wondered the boy at dusk on a rare and wonderful tuesday night and then he waited for a whole year until that same night happened again the next year and the stranger called and told him he could have the job if he wanted it and the boy was overjoyed to hear the news and over the next year the boy raked the strangers yard everyday with glee and the stranger paid him a small sum once every two weeks but the stranger and the boy never became very good friends because the stranger stayed mostly indoors and the boy respected the stranger too much to presumptuously knock on the front door and invite himself in but the boy sure did want to be friends with the stranger and go inside the big mysterious house and do big mysterious things like he thought the stranger must do in there all the time so at the end of the first year of his employment he knocked on the door and when the stranger came to the door the boy said i really have to use the bathroom can i come in and the stranger said no but the boy ran into the house under the strangers legs and then the dogs got him
