duke and carmelita meet on the wrong side of a blind curve in baja and fall instantly in love attracted like one crazy magnet to another then duke sneaks carmelita over the border and they live in some kind of peace until creeping desperation takes over duke and he needs to go to nashville to become a country singer so duke gets an annulment of his previous marriage to tracy and he and carmelita plan to get hitched and save up enough dough to go east but before their wedding date rolls around carmelitas pops kicks the bucket so they have to hike it down to old mexico so carmelita borrows janies passport and they go to the funeral in san quintin where duke meets carmelitas drug running brother salvador and arranges to run a load of coke over the border but when they go to the pick up spot and carmelita understands whats going down she flips out and shoots duke and shoots salvador and a henchman so she is stranded over the border with gangs after her but the gangs think that she is janie because of the passport she dropped in haste at the pick up point
